LLQ in Integrated Services Networks

چکیده

Integrated services networks integrate wide variety of services, such as voices, video, and data, onto a common infrastructure. There are however major obstacles to overcome, since different services not only have drastically different traffic characteristics, but also extremely diverse Quality of Service (QoS) requirements expressed in terms of delay, jitter, throughput and loss rate. An important issue in providing QoS is the choice of the packet service discipline at switching notes. Integrated services networks require a packet service discipline that can support both real-time services as well as non-real time services. This paper discusses a service discipline called Low Latency Queuing (LLQ), in terms of its delay performance in integrated services networks. Simulations results are presented, which show delay performance of LLQ in comparison to delay performance of Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ).

Analysis of the algorithms for congestion management in computer networks

This paper presents one of the features of DS (Differentiated Services) architecture, namely the queuing or congestion management. Packets can be placed into separate buffer queues, on the basis of the DS value. Several forwarding policies can be used to favor high priority packets in different ways. The major reason for queuing is that the router must hold the packet in its memory while the ou...

Performance Improvement of Expanded Integrated Local Area Networks (RESEARCH NOTE)

In Local Area Networks (LAN) connected together by bridges, flow control and smooth traffic in the network is very important. However, congestion at bridges can cause intensive loss of received frames. In addition, the received frames are thrown away and have to be retransmitted by the source station, which causes more congestion and massive reduction in the overall network throughput. The netw...

A Case for Open Network Health Systems: Systems as Networks in Public Mental Health

Increases in incidents involving so-called confused persons have brought attention to the potential costs of recent changes to public mental health (PMH) services in the Netherlands. Decentralized under the (Community) Participation Act (2014), local governments must find resources to compensate for reduced central funding to such services or “innovate.” But innovation, even when pressure for c...
